You can:
manually add or upload Locations.
manually configure or upload Location configurations.
store any item in a Location (default behavior).
configure a Location so as it can only store a specific Item or Items, but not other items.
configure a Location so as it tells you which items it normally stores. In this case you can also store other items in this Location.
view which items can be specifically stored in a Location.
download a list of Locations, their respective configurations, and item mappings.
track the transit status of a Location.
assign a Location to a Sales Order.
print barcode Labels for Locations.
There are four ways to add new Locations to the WMS:
Setup>Plugins>Installed Plugins>SOWMS>Stock Locations Download/Upload Template
WMS Console>Locations>Locations Pane>New
Products/Services>Stock Locations+
WMS Console>Locations>Locations Pane>Download Data/>Upload Data*
*The Download/Upload data actions are only visible if the WMS console user has the 'Allow Stock Locations/Item Mappings import/export' box is checked. To access this setting:
Go to Admin tab>Edit the user and check the box.
In (1) and (3) remember to specify the correct Warehouse.
Setting | Notes |
---|---|
Location | A unique ID for the Location. |
Barcode | A barcode corresponding to the 'Name' unique ID. |
Group | You can assign a location to a Group to allow you to easily select a predefined group of locations (useful for Stock Count). |
Status (Container) | Select from the List of values to specify where in the journey a container is, it’s just an indicator. |
In Transit (Container) | When checked you cannot pick or put away in this Location. |
ETA (Container) | An arbitrary date, it’s just an indicator. |
Pick Order | The order of priority in the Pick route. Contact support@salesorder.com for guidance. |
Put Order | The order of priority in the Putaway route. Contact support@salesorder.com for guidance. |
Count Order | You can set a ‘Count Order’ on locations to order the sequence in which locations are counted. |
Quarantine | Stock stored here cannot be allocated or picked. |
Can receive Stock | Can receive stock from outside of the warehouse i.e deliveries to Goods In. |
Can pick Stock | Pick from this location when checked. If unchecked, you cannot pick stock from this Location. |
Can Pick/Pack to | Can put away or pack to the Location. Remember, the stock always has to be somewhere and therefore in a Location. For example, if you picking stock from a Location, you might put this on a Pallet, or move it to another Location i.e. Packing. |
Building Kits/Assemblies | Check the box to make available for builds. |
For Transit | When checked you cannot pick or put away in this Location. |
Items Stocked | Store 'Any' stock Item or Store 'specific' stock Items. |
Specific Order | Reserve for a specific Sales Order. |
Sales Order Ref# | Reserved for Sales Order Ref#. |

You can import Locations and their settings. This will be recorded in the 'History'.
There are two import templates:
import_wms_locations.xlsx - this can be downloaded from:
Setup>Plugins>Installed Plugins>SOWMS>Configure
The upload action for the template is adjacent to the download control.
The download will contain a dataset containing all of the current settings.
export_wms_stock_locations.xlsx - this can be downloaded from:
WMS Console>Locations tab>Locations pane>action = Download Data

You can configure a Location so it can:
store mapped items, and other items.
exclusively store an item, but not other items.
In both cases:
In the Locations pane select a Location.
In the Items pane select an item.
Click 'Add to Location' next to the respective item.
The selected item will appear in the 'Items to be Stocked at Location'.
Restrict the Location to specific Items - set the configuration of the Location from 'Any' (default) to 'Specific'. Go to Locations>Location>Edit>Items Stocked.

> Select | Select the Item to be designated to a Location. |
> Print Labels* | Print Label(s) for checked Item(s). |
