# 'Add Shipping Cost to Sales Order' Plugin

1. Ensure that the ‘Add Shipping Cost to Sales Order’ is installed and configured. (<mark style="color:orange;">Setup > Plugin Store</mark>)
2. Create a Shipment from the Sales Order.&#x20;
3. Enter shipping cost if known, if not known, leave blank or enter a placeholder amount.&#x20;
4. If connected to a shipping vendor, the shipping cost will be automatically populated when Shipment marked as shipped.&#x20;
5. Save.&#x20;
6. Return to the original Sales Order and you will see a line item called ‘SHIPPING\_COST’ has been added to the line item table.&#x20;

If the order qualifies for free shipping then no shipping charge is added to the invoice.

#### Factors Affecting Shipping Cost:

Cubic Volume/Weight: The space occupied in the shipping vehicle affects the cost.

Destination: The cost varies based on the shipping destination.

Speed: Expedited shipping options may incur additional charges.

Final Cost Arbitrariness: The exact shipping cost may be arbitrary or pre-determined by certain criteria.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://helpwith.salesorder.com/sales/sales-orders/add-shipping-cost-to-sales-order-plugin.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
